This policy explains how Gigsouk Jobs ("Gigsouk", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on gigsouk.com. We keep it simple: an essential cookie to sign you in, and analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We don't use advertising or retargeting cookies.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your browser on a later visit. They can be:
- First-party — set by the site you're visiting (here, gigsouk.com), or third-party — set by another service.
- Session — deleted when you close your browser, or persistent — kept until they expire or you delete them.
- Strictly necessary — needed for something you asked for, like staying logged in — or optional, such as analytics or advertising cookies. We use strictly necessary and analytics cookies.
Cookies we set

This cookie holds a random token — not your name, email or any other personal details. It is HTTP-only (scripts on the page can't read it), Secure (only sent over HTTPS) and SameSite=Lax (not sent with cross-site requests from other websites, which protects you against request forgery). Logging out deletes it from your browser and ends the session on our servers.
If you never log in, this cookie isn't set. You can browse and search jobs without one; applying to a job requires logging in.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and features people use, and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people interact with pages — through heatmaps and session recordings of clicks, scrolling and mouse movement — so we can fix confusing pages and bugs. These cookies are set on gigsouk.com by scripts from Google and Microsoft.

Session recordings mask what you type into forms, and we additionally hide the content of our free tools, your dashboard and admin pages from recordings, so the text you paste or upload there isn't captured. Cookies we don't use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies, and no ad networks.
- No social media pixels or "like" buttons that report your visit to social networks.
- No browser fingerprinting, and we don't sell or share your browsing data.
Other technologies
- Fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser doesn't contact Google Fonts or any other font service when you visit.
- Local storage: Gigsouk itself doesn't store data in your browser's local or session storage. The analytics scripts above may use it in the same way as their cookies.
- Job and apply counts: we count job views and Apply clicks on our servers to show employers how their posts perform. These are totals per job and don't use cookies. If you're logged in, your viewed and applied jobs are listed under Viewed & applied for you.
- Emails we send (sign-in codes, job alerts, job post updates) don't contain tracking pixels.
- Server logs: like any website, our hosting records basic request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to keep the service secure and fix errors. See our Privacy Policy.
Third-party cookies
Some services we rely on may set their own cookies. We don't control these, and they're governed by each provider's own policy.

- When you click Apply or follow a link to an employer's website or another site, that site's own cookie policy applies.
- Company logos on job listings may be loaded from the company's or a third party's image server.

Strictly necessary vs optional cookies
The gigsouk_session cookie is strictly necessary for signing in. The Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity cookies are optional: the site works fully without them, and you can block them at any time using the options below.
Managing cookies
You can see, block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the gigsouk_session cookie you can still browse and search jobs, but you won't be able to log in — which you need to apply to jobs, save jobs, manage alerts or manage your job posts.
To opt out of analytics without blocking every cookie:
- Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Microsoft Clarity: block cookies from clarity.ms, or use a content blocker that blocks clarity.ms scripts.
- Most privacy-focused browsers and content-blocking extensions block both by default.
Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies we use, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. If a change is significant, such as adding optional cookies, we'll tell you on the site before it takes effect.
