About
Xapo Bank, originally founded in 2013 as Xapo by Wences Casares in Palo Alto and now headquartered in Gibraltar, operates a licensed private bank integrating Bitcoin custody with traditional banking. As a Gibraltar-regulated bank and supervised VASP, it offers insured Bitcoin custody in underground vaults, interest on bitcoin and USD accounts with dedicated IBANs, plus card spending. Serving high-net-worth members and institutions globally, Xapo emphasizes security through deep cold storage, multi-party computation and inheritance planning. Licensed in Gibraltar with members across many countries, it bridges private banking discretion with Bitcoin conviction. Backed by leading investors including Greylock and Index, Xapo maintains a selective membership model. Expect a security-first culture that values privacy, long-term custody thinking and combining bank-grade compliance with Bitcoin-native product.
