About
Starknet Foundation, established in 2022 in the Cayman Islands to steward Starknet, supports the zero-knowledge rollup built by StarkWare for Ethereum scaling. The Foundation allocates grants, governs the STRK token and funds protocol research, tooling and community education independent of StarkWare's commercial development. Starknet uses STARK proofs and the Cairo language for scalable general computation with account abstraction and throughput far beyond L1. Headquartered with a distributed global team and complementary hub in Zug, the Foundation emphasizes decentralization, developer onboarding and public goods funding via voting and delegation. Backed by endowment resources and ecosystem growth, it coordinates upgrades toward full decentralization of sequencing and proving. Expect a community-driven, governance-focused culture that values cryptographic research, builder support and steady progress toward a credibly neutral ZK stack.
