About
Spruce, founded in 2020 by Wayne Chang and Gregory Rocco in New York, builds open-source identity and data control infrastructure for Web3. Its products, SpruceID and Kepler, provide decentralized identifiers, credential wallets and storage that let users control authentication and data sharing across apps without centralized providers, using DIDs and verifiable credentials. Headquartered in New York with a distributed team, Spruce collaborates with Ethereum Foundation, ENS and government pilots on privacy-preserving identity standards. The company emphasizes open standards, cryptographic verifiability and developer tooling over custodial identity. Backed by leading investors, Spruce advances self-sovereign identity research and interoperability. Its standards collaborations with ENS, Ethereum Foundation and government pilots advance verifiable credential adoption while preserving user control over selective disclosure. Expect a research and standards-driven culture that values privacy engineering, open collaboration and building durable, user-controlled identity rails for the ecosystem.
