About
Somnia, initiated by the Virtual Society Foundation (VSF) in 2024, develops a high-performance, EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain capable of processing over 400,000 transactions per second with sub-second finality. Engineered specifically for mass-consumer applications, gaming, social protocols and interconnected metaverses, Somnia introduces proprietary IceDB database architecture and advanced compiler optimizations that eliminate traditional EVM execution bottlenecks while retaining standard Solidity developer tooling. Governed by VSF and distributed globally, Somnia focuses on open-source protocol research, throughput benchmarking and empowering creators to deploy rich, real-time interactive virtual worlds on-chain. Somnia's proprietary IceDB database and EVM compiler optimizations enable massive throughput scalability, processing over 400,000 transactions per second for real-time metaverse and gaming applications.
