About
OpenZeppelin, founded in 2015 by Demian Brener and Manuel Araoz in the United States with a globally distributed team, defines the security standard for smart contract development. Its open-source Contracts library is the most widely used collection of audited Solidity primitives for tokens, governance and access control, while its Defender platform and audit practice secure mission-critical systems for leading DeFi protocols and financial institutions. Originally known as Zeppelin and founded in Buenos Aires, the company pioneered formal smart contract audits and education through Ethernaut. Headquartered in the United States with teams across 30+ countries, OpenZeppelin operates as a security-first product and services firm emphasizing research, formal verification and continuous monitoring. Its work underpins a significant share of value secured on Ethereum and L2s. Backed by leading investors, it advances open, reusable standards. Expect a rigorous, audit-minded culture that values code correctness, clear documentation and stewardship of shared infrastructure.
