About
CoinMarketCap, founded in 2013 by Brandon Chez in New York, became the most visited crypto price-tracking site for prices, volumes and portfolio metrics. Now a subsidiary of Binance since 2020, CoinMarketCap aggregates data across numerous exchanges for coins, DeFi, NFTs and derivatives while maintaining editorial independence, rankings and research content. Headquartered in Dover, Delaware, with a globally distributed team, the platform serves a broad audience of consumers and professionals referencing its data for trading and media. Its methodology emphasizes transparent scoring, API access and educational content rather than trading venue operation. The business monetizes through advertising, APIs and events. Its research, newsletters and conference presence extend beyond aggregation to provide educational content that helps newcomers interpret market structure and on-chain signals. Expect a data and audience-focused culture that values coverage breadth, editorial neutrality and delivering accessible market information for everyday crypto users worldwide.
