About
BitGo, founded in 2013 in Palo Alto by Mike Belshe and Ben Davenport with Will O'Brien and Bill Lee, pioneered multi-signature custody for Bitcoin and built institutional wallet infrastructure now used for qualified custody, hot wallets, self-custody, staking and trading. The company became a qualified custodian with SOC 2 and CCSS certifications and operates WBTC wrapping that connects Bitcoin liquidity to DeFi. Headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after moving from California in early 2026, with engineering and operations hubs in Palo Alto, New York, Singapore and Dubai, BitGo serves institutional clients including exchanges, custodians and asset managers across many countries. The platform emphasizes threshold signature security, key management and round-the-clock operations. Backed by leading investors, the culture rewards audit discipline, thorough review and building long-term trust for large asset holders.
